Biographical notes



I have a BA in Mathematics (Oxford) and an MSc in Biometry (Reading).

From 2000-2019 I worked in Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Kent, initially as Reader and later as Professor. Since 2020 I have been Emeritus Professor of Applied Statistics.

Before moving to the University of Kent, I worked as a statistician in agricultural and horticultural research institutes, most recently at East Malling Research, which is now part of Niab.

From 2009-2012, I was Joint Editor of the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series C (Applied Statistics), initially with Chris Skinner and then with Richard Chandler.

I was President of the British and Irish Region of the International Biometric Society from 2016-2018.
